Week 4 “Being and Doing” (Dwell)
Smitchell   -

God created us to dwell with him. He sent his Son, Jesus the Messiah, to recreate the conditions under which God and his people can dwell together in peace. Jesus said that when we remain in him (John 15) as a branch remains in its vine, the life and vitality of God integrates our being and doing.

That life is often referred to as “light,” and it is a theme Isaiah uses in 58:8-11 to illustrate how religion that is alive with the power of God’s presence (being) expresses as Kingdom goodness in the lives of all it touches (doing). Even better, Isaiah alludes to this “religion” restoring the Garden life humans shared with God in the beginning when our being and doing are properly integrated.
